Campbell Civils were commissioned by clients Mid and East Antrim Borough Council to carry out works on a treated leachate discharge line at Ballymacvea Landfill Site.

Scope of Works included;

  • Installation of treated leachate drainage pipeline
  • Construction of headwall at discharge point
  • Installation of duct under Island Road, including road re-instatement
  • Clearance of vegetation
  • Installation of manholes and headwall

Ballymacvea Landfill Site is located on the junction of Tullynamullan Road and Island Road, approximately 7km to the south of Ballymena Co. Antrim. The site is located within the Sharvogues Peat Bog, with the primary land use in the surrounding area being grazing farmland. An area of silver birch, within a wet marsh area, is situated on the southern edge of the site.

The previous discharge point was approximately 3km from the treatment plant and the new discharge point will allow the Council to have greater control over site operations and undertake any required maintenance more effectively.

Campbell Civils was delighted to support Mid & East Antrim Borough Council on the delivery of this project.
